I went for my first session at the new fishery on Saturday evening, only a short 2-3 hour session on Island pool peg 1. Without really knowing anything I went armed with a couple of pints of maggot. A big mistake at this time of the year I was catching small Rudd every put in. even catching on burst maggots. I soon got bored doing this and switched to corn where a had to wait a little longer for bites but the fish where a bigger stamp, mainly Rudd up to 8oz but great fun on light gear. I didn’t catch any Carp but I also caught a few Roach. There seems to be a million Rudd in this pool and the Rudd and Roach soon nail the hook bait. It’ll be interesting to fish in the winter when the Rudd are less active.
There is still a fair amount of weed still in the pool but I am sure this will get less as it’s fished more. It was a pleasant session in a nice peaceful location but the noise from the windmill spinning around in the wind was ignoring as I was sat right next to it.
I reckon I caught at least 10lb of Silvers in my short 2-3 hour session and I enjoyed it.
It was good to see you again Phil on my wander round i am pleased that you enjoyed yourself i did see some good sized Carp at the top end of the pool you were on i am still considering whether to join ore not my biggest problem would be getting my kit to the peg if drawn along that back straight
